La Esquina

Menu Design
Location: New York City

We took inspiration from the classic 1963 Mexican movie “Santo Vs. El Estrangulador” to design a drinks menu for La Esquina. The film is about a maniac that intends to murder beautiful women artists as a form of revenge for a deformity in his face that a woman caused him in the past. He is called the strangler because that’s the technique he uses to kill his victims. He commits these crimes without leaving a trace, making it very hard for the police to catch him. The only clue they had about the strangler was that he always left a gardenia next to his victims. The police ask Santo, a hero luchador, for help to find this criminal, and that’s when the case gets solved. We created graphic elements to tell this story throughout the menu.

*** El Santo was one of the most famous Mexican luchador, he starred around 50 films in which he fought all kinds of enemies aboard luxurious sport cars.
